Hot off the press – Cara Delevingne is the new face of Chanel.

She’s also’s top 5th model right now.

She doesn't cut the mustard. On paper.

After all, she’s short, by model standards. Marc Jacobs once referred to her as a dwarf!

Her brows are not well-groomed in conformance with the fashion mafia. Her fashion advice is “lose the tweezers”.

Her personality is equally untamed. All you gotta to do is follow her on Instagram to get a taste of the unabashedly weird.

What makes Cara Delevingne the modern It Girl?

None of this:
Being raised with a silver spoon on a daily diet of old British money
Being the god-daughter of Joan Collins
Over 50 catwalk appearances and countless modeling gigs
9 Ad campaigns for the likes of Chanel, Saint Laurent, DKNY
Being the face of Burberry

If these could be differentiators, there’s a bevy of debutantes in line to claim titles.

The secret lies in her crazies

It is precisely her wild spirit that makes her so vocal about her dislike of high heels (Monsieur Louboutin, you’ve got your work cut out for you).

The tomboy in her is why she’s seen making goofy faces at work, getting preened for the catwalk.

Her spirit of freedom is why she posted a topless pic of herself on Instagram to support the ‘Free The Nipple’ campaign.

She’s not into make-up and keeps posting about inner beauty (Hint: potential brand ambassador for Dove soap?)

She’s not a fan of the paparazzi but with 4,600 tweets and almost 6 million Instagram followers, she’s clearly got no qualms with social media. Though she adds, “I have never once seen a woman pap (paparazzi)! Can someone explain that!?”

She’s expressive and funny. "My mother had beautiful white hair," she told The Sunday Times. "Mine is a little pee-pee yellow, so that's why I put the white powder in."

Karl Lagerfeld called it. "Cara is different. She's full of life, full of pep. I like girls to be wild but at the same time beautifully brought up and very funny."

Above all, Cara is not perfect. This is her charm.

Cara really doesn’t to give a toss what people (read: the media) thinks, and this drives everyone to her like moth to a flame.

Cara is a breath of fresh air in a world chasing perfection.

Love her or not, she cannot be disregarded as she's a spokesperson of her generation.
