GET THE LOUBOUTIN MANICURE

ROUGE IS THE COLOR OF MY HEART

Following up on my post about a fashionista’s shoe obsessions, here’s the latest from my all-time favorite shoe designer.

Rouge is the name of Christian Louboutin’s debut into Beauty. In his words “I’m giving back to beauty what I took from it years ago”. To clarify, Rouge nail polish is the exact same color as those iconic red soles we all crave.

Entre nous, I had my money on his first line extension being a red lipstick. Glad I only bet with Monopoly money.

PERPETUATING A GROWING TREND

Louboutin is not the first designer to foray into Beauté.

Everyone from Dior, Armani and Tom Ford have already done this quite successfully.

After all, these cheap(er) thrills are a window into a relatively expensive and inaccessible luxury world for most, albeit at $50 a pop.

active strategy to grow their Beauté business

NO HALF MEASURES WITH LOUBOUTIN

Including Rouge, the product line includes 30 colors across 3 collections (Nudes, Pops, Noirs) with names chosen from the designer’s heels and bags.

Rouge is the obvious one to try. Others to check out are Very Prive (a deeper red), Me Nude (capuccino) and Escatin (orange), while the Mula Lisa (a yellow chartreuse) is surprisingly rich and glossy.

The high quality of the polish was obviously paramount. The lacquer is highly-pigmented, chip-resistant and super glossy so that two coats is equal to 20 layers of traditional lacquer.

Pops

Commissioned in a traditional glass factory, the bottle is simply stunning (an objet d’art) with its 17-18th century influenced design.

The brush handle of the bottle is 8 inches long, the same length as the Ballerina Ultima, the highest heel ever designed by CL.

UP NEXT IN THE WORLD OF DANGEROUSLY SEXY

Currently sold out everywhere with promises of refreshed stock in September, you can pre-order the lacquer online at most luxury e-tailers the likes of Saks, Harvey Nics, Sephora…

Stay tuned for CL’s next capsule collection of manicure-inspired stilletos. Leather, satin and suede meet handprints and metallic embellishments. See the symbiosis? Smart marketing.

Watch David Lynch’s stylish Rouge Louboutin video. Lynch is a long-time Louboutin collaborator. Remember the film Fetish that featured the Ballerina Ultima for the first time ever?
